2021 Ontario Economic Report Launch

Join the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) for the release of the fifth annual Ontario Economic Report (OER).

As the OCC’s flagship report, the OER will highlight the unprecedented year that was 2020 and the unpredictability that lies in the year ahead.

Now more than ever we need data and evidence-based policy to drive our decision-making. Understanding Ontario’s economic outlook and the experiences of businesses of all sizes across the province is paramount to informing Ontario’s economic outlook and our roadmap to recovery.

The Hon. Victor Fedeli, Ontario’s Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade will be providing opening remarks at the release. The event will also highlight key findings of the report and will feature a fireside chat between Mark Poweska, President and CEO of Hydro One and Rocco Rossi, President and CEO of the OCC.

2020 was an unprecedented year and as we embark on a new year, we are proud to host a one-on-one conversation with Mr. O’Toole.

Mr. O’Toole will speak about his response to rising COVID-19 numbers over the holidays, while protecting Canadians lives and jobs, as well as his vision for economic recovery with the vaccine rollout underway across the country.

Canadian Chamber of Commerce: Cannabis Act Review: Medical Cannabis & Cannabis Health Products

On the second anniversary of legalization of recreational cannabis for adult use, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s National Cannabis Working Group is launching an industry-led review of the Cannabis Act to provide recommendations on how the government should improve Canada’s federal legislative and regulatory frameworks for cannabis.

The Cannabis Act, which came into force on October 17, 2018, requires that the Minister of Health initiate a review of the Act by October 17, 2021, three years following the legalization of recreational cannabis for adult use. In advance of the federal government’s review of the Act, the National Cannabis Working Group will be leading an industry review of the legislation.

The review of the Act will be led by Eric Foster, Partner and Leader of the Dentons Canada cannabis practice. Dentons is a global leader in the cannabis industry, providing cannabis industry stakeholders with the full suite of legal services they need in order to grow, protect, operate and finance their businesses, both in Canada and internationally.
